CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND THE IMPORTANCE OF THE STUDY
Introduction:
Pregnancy is a major concern in the society today. The country is experiencing a rapid growth in population that contributes to different problems. In the field of education, female students may become pregnant even before they graduate. It is just proper that we are aware of the situations and circumstances of a student who got pregnant if they are still willing to pursue their education because they are also a vital part of nation building. If we will empower these students to continue pursuing their dreams, then we are creating hopes to every students who are in the said situation.
I.The Problem
Statement of the problem:
It is a dilemma that a student will no longer continue their studies after giving birth. The researchers would want to prove there are still hopes for these students. With obstacles connected with this, they can still always take the first step to change their lives. Even if there are so many considerations to make, they still have the power to choose education.
.

The objective of the research preparation is to enlighten the minds of students to fight for their dreams, specifically, it aims to know the current data of pregnancy among PUP BSED students, to develop the understanding of the challenges a pregnant student is facing. The research also aim to encourage out of school pregnant women to return back to school, It also aims to give information where to seek help and support for their situation. CHAPTER III
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
While researchers conducted the study, they came across related studies to the topic and these are not following.
A study published by the Philippine Statistic Authority on August 28,2014 entitled “One ten young Filipino Women age 15-29 is already a mother or pregnant with the first child’’. The Age bracket is showing the age where a student is about to enter college and/or currently enrolled in college level. Researchers also found a research submitted by Bueno, Ma. Margarita to Faculty of Lourdes College Cagayan de Oro City and as also published in UKESSays.com, also anchored with the information from the Philippine Statistic Authority. And the article of Juliet Revita entitled “DepEd wont Expel pregnant students gives a strong reason for the students to continue their studies. Expulsion is evident in some Catholic schools, and this is a positive outlook for the equal right to education.

CHAPTER IV
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
The researchers got the chance to interview some returning students of PUP BSED and see this as clear manifestation that women nowadays are giving importance with their education even after pregnancy to the point of fulfilling their responsibility as a mother and a student at the same time. It’s not easy to be in this kind of situation. Issues arising out of pregnancy in school like expulsion will lead to demoralization on the part of the student. Everybody has the right to education even at the state of pregnancy. Given that some catholic schools tends to expel a pregnant student. It is good to know that DepEd Mindanao initiated a memorandum not to expel a pregnant student. Researchers asked 4 enrolled and returning students of the consequence they are facing right now of pregnancy; most of them said that they need to stop their studies temporarily because of their condition. Carla Grace, a third year student experienced spotting and needs to have a bed rest, she had to file the Official Leave of absence. Meanwhile below are the circumstances leading to pregnancy based on the result of the interviews:
Curiosity, Drugs, Alcohol Lack of Education Lack of Attention Anxiety, Depression Family Problems
Below are the consequences of pregnancy among students:
Financial Problems Health Problems They stop for a period of time Emotional Disturbances Psychological Disturbance
Having said, Researchers found out that from a population of III PUP BSED students, 4 are becoming pregnant that represents 3.6% pregnancy rate. Data from the Philippine statistic authority matches with the interviews that the age bracket of pregnancy is between 16-20 years old, a very crucial stage in the
6
life of woman. Some of the resource person thinks that chances of returning to school are low. A Teacher named Michael Glen Amor stated that a student may come from a low income and marginalized families making it difficult for her to come back and even if a student came from a well-off family, a mother should
take care of her child and a paramount consideration for not returning to school. However according to Geraldine Baranal, a third year BSED student, in her section pregnant students continued attending classes, and thats s total courage and determination.
Educational Institution plays a very important role in molding the minds and hearts of the youth. School is a training ground and sometimes it has also a role in opposite sex relationship. Educational Institution must proactively educate learner about the consequences of early and unwanted pregnancy. Geraldine Baranal said that this institution responsible for citizen education must be integrated to the curriculum to protect our youth.
The support system is also essential when we think of empowering students. They can seek help to the following:
Parents or Family Good Friends Teachers Guidance Counselors Immediate Professors College / Department heads Health workers
These also show in the result of the interview students may keep it secret to their family because of the fear but they should be the first to know. Good friends can be a channel to relate some emotional matters; a Guidance counselor can enlighten the min of a confused student. Immediate Professors should also be informed because the academic standing is in their hands. Department head plays also an important role in facilitating the process of filling leave of absence and the process as a returning student, a Health workers may be a Nurse or Doctors that can help monitor the status of pregnancy.
This is an inspirational story when we hear a woman fighting for their education; all of them said that the biggest motivation is their child. They are facing consequences because they are worth facing for. Struggling with time management is real but it is temporary. There is always a reason to continue with life.

CHAPTER V

- There is need to talk about pregnancy among PUP students.
